
Alain Carrier
Executive Director,
Private Equity
Alain Carrier is the Executive Director of Private Equity at ADIC. In this role, he is responsible for shaping and executing the firm’s private equity strategy, driving performance across a diversified portfolio, and expanding the platform’s reach through new investment opportunities and strategic partnerships.
Prior to joining ADIC, Alain served as Chief Executive Officer of Bregal Investments, a Europe/US-based direct private equity investment organization backed by the Brenninkmeijer family. From 2021 to early 2025, he led the firm’s growth and transformation, managing underperforming funds, launching new strategies in carbon, secondaries, and credit, and refining its long-term investment approach.
Before Bregal, Alain spent more than 14 years at Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments), where he rose to Senior Managing Director & Head of International. In that capacity, he oversaw CPP’s international offices across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, following earlier leadership roles as Global Head of Infrastructure and Head of Europe. Alain began his career in the financial industry in investment banking at Goldman Sachs in New York and London, where he spent more than 10 years as part of the technology, Media and Telecoms team. Alain originally trained as a lawyer, starting his professional career at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York.
Alain holds an LLM from Columbia Law School, a DESS in International Law from the University of Paris I: Panthéon-Sorbonne, and a LLB in Law from Université Laval.
